MAY MAYBERRY
Born in Glasgow, I have been living in Ayrshire for around 25 years now. Although I am a relative newcomer to
the 
commercial world of art, I have been interested in painting pictures since I was a child. Art was one of my favourite subjects at school, along with music, and over the years I have dabbled, on and off, with drawing and painting.
I have recently been concentrating more time to painting, since my children are getting older and I have a bit more time on my hands.
After I became interested in amateur photography, I found that my digital photographs are good sources for new paintings, or even just to complete paintings once I get back home to my conservatory - which is where I have an easel permanently set up and waiting for the next new work. I realise how lucky I am to have this luxury - the light in the conservatory is wonderful for painting - and it keeps the rain off!
I like experimenting with different mediums; watercolour, acrylic and oil, so you will find paintings using all these mediums on this site. I find myself using more and more acrylic paints in my work, although I still love to work in watercolour.
Sometimes I will do the same painting twice - just to see the different effects I can achieve with different mediums. You will find a couple of examples of this duplication in the Paintings and Prints pages of this website (the watercolour originals are no longer available for sale).
